Trophy Northern Pike Fishing In Manitoba

The Camp At Edmund Lake
Comfortable and clean cabins at the camp.

Northern pike fishing doesn't get any better than this!  Over 200 trophy pike of 41+ inches or more were caught and released in 2006 at Edmund Lake Lodge.  Our goal is to make your Northern pike and walleye fishing experience as good as it gets anywhere.  See our testimonials page to find out what other guests have to say about Edmund Lake Lodge.

Situated on a protected point near the southeast portion of Edmund Lake, the camp has five guest cabins.  Each well constructed  cabin has indoor bathroom facilities including hot showers for freshening up after a day on the water.  The cabins sleep from four to eight people. The main lodge has a dining room with a great view of the lake.  The dining area  serves as a gathering place for leisurely conversation at meal time and for the festive card games and story-telling that etch their own memories of your time at Edmund Lake Lodge.  The fabulous meals prepared at the lodge are as much a trademark as the trophy Northern pike fishing!  Prepared by expert and experienced staff, you won't believe the quality and care that goes into serving you meals you wouldn't expect in such a remote location. Special dietary needs by our guests can be accommodated with prior notification.

The newly expanded and remodeled main lodge is equipped with a radio and satellite phone in case any of our guests must maintain contact with home or office or in case emergency communication is necessary. However, our guests seldom venture near the  phones...your old world will seem far away once you step from the plane onto the dock and your new world at Edmund Lake!  The cozy lodge is a relaxing area for reading, card playing and conversations with other fishermen. And you just might be able to see that NBA championship basketball game or a Cub game on the camp TV.

WHAT TO BRING

NOTE:  You are allowed 60 pounds TOTAL weight of all your gear without incurring a weight penalty.  Anything over theNewly remodeled lodge at Edmund Lake... good times and great memories! standard allowed weight of 60 pounds will be charged at the rate of $2.00 per pound!  Be sure to include some extra cash for unexpected necessities...such as paying off your buddies when you don't catch the biggest fish of the day, or when a full house isn't enough!

TACKLE:  Most fishermen haul far too much gear with them.  Keep in mind that the camp store stocks lots of lures, line, leaders, and other accessories IF you overlook something.  Your preferred method of fishing dictates what you bring.  Many fishermen use baitcasting gear, some use only light spinning gear especially in the early spring before weeds are present.  And fly-fishing is rapidly gaining in popularity.  You may very well hook the fish of a lifetime, so do a little planning and be prepared! Our recommendation: If you aren't sure you will need something, don't bring it!

LURE SELECTIONS: In the spring many big Northerns are taken on small to medium spoons such as Johnson Silver Minnow, Five of Diamonds, Doctor Spoons and Daredevils. Because only single, barbless hooks are used at this camp,  plugs requiring treble hooks must be modified to contain single, barbless hooks.  Walleyes will hit the same spoons as the Northerns but many walleye fishermen prefer the trusted jig dressed with any kind of yellow or white tail, especially as the water warms up and the fish go deeper.

FLY FISHING: Many avid fly fisherman have developed a few personal techniques of their own and also make theirNice place to relax... own streamer flies for this type of fishing.  Use your imagination to develop your own tackle strategies for doing battle with 20 pound+ pike.  The guides would be glad to share this kind of experience with you regarding the fine-tuning of your gear for fly fishing. Catching a 25 pound Northern Pike on fly fishing gear entitles you to special braggin' rights...have your camera ready!

CLOTHING: Rain gear, sunscreen, insulated underwear (even up until July, the temperature can fluctuate from 85* to 25* in the same week!), personal medicines, Band-aids, Polaroid sunglasses, bug repellent, flashlight, and camera. You'll need cash for poker games and friendly wagers on biggest fish, SLUGGO baits since you didn't think you'd ever need any, and for extra refreshments!  Meals are informal so suits and ties are not required.  Most guests keep one clean set of clothes for dining and a few changes for the hard work of hauling in the fish.

Cabins:  You won't have to bring any bedding or sleeping bags... just your personal items such as tooth brush, shaving items, and casual clothing.   We take care of the rest!  All cabins have hot showers, comfortable beds, and plenty of room to hang up your gear.

What Not To Bring:
61 pounds or more of gear!  There is a $2.00 per pound charge for weight over 60#.  Don't bring towels, soap, linens... these items are supplied by the camp.  Don't bring gaffs or landing nets... each boat has a cradle for fish control. Don't bring stresses and strains from your previous world... it's time to fish!  The experienced staff at Edmund Lake Lodge is at your service!

Sample the flavor of the camp at Edmund Lake.   Many guests return year after year to this exclusive fishing camp...
and the fishing is only a part of the total experience.
